The major problem of anyone who’s ever moved is damage to fragile or irreplaceable items during the process.

Whether you prefer to have friends help you, or you work with a moving company to relocate your belongings, you’ve got a couple of things to bear in mind when you pack up items that would likely break.

Below are great tips for packing your most delicate property:

Think about a specialty mover.

Relocating items such as art, statues, pianos, etc, is a science. Services that are pro’s at moving things like these may coordinate the move with your moving service, and frequently offer temporary or long-term storage options.

Understand that the main cause of breakage is usually a drop.

In case you have any uncertainty about whether you’re competent to move an item safely, don’t make an attempt to move it yourself. It’s all too common to overestimate your capacity to carry delicate items while your way could be obstructed, or while you might not see issues that are in your path.

Choose multiple people to deal with larger fragile items, and be sure the route to the doorway is unblocked and free of hindrances.

Use enough packing material.

A move is no time for you to scrimp on packing material. Instead of deciding on less expensive packing paper or newspaper, wrap your valuables in bubble wrap and fill bins with packing peanuts or packing paper. Effective packing material is not as expensive as replacing a broken item.

Don’t overfill boxes containing fragile items.

You’ll want to protect fragile objects from shifting inside containers, but overfilling boxes is a sure-fire way to harm anything fragile inside. Never fill a box greater than 3/4 total. Fill at least 1/4 of every container with packing material, and disperse the packing material evenly on every side to distribute vibrations and shock in case of a fall.

Always pack bins containing fragile things on the top of boxes containing heavier items.

Moving boxes may be sturdy, but time, humidity as well as heat are going to cause the sturdiest of boxes to break down, sometimes in a few minutes. If you’ve packed delicate items in a box and placed anything heavy on top, the bottom package may collapse, and your fragile belongings are prone to break.

Load the most fragile items in storage tubs.

Plastic storage tubs are wonderful places to pack your fragile property. They’re tougher than cardboard containers, usually include handles, and can be used at the new home to store things you only use occasionally, such as holiday items.

Be Mindful

If you are taking proper measures when packing fragile property, your move may be done without a break.

Otherwise, if you would rather by pass the stress – employ a moving company that can ensure your fragile objects make it to the new household in one piece.
